This is my cj5 the day I got back from NC picking it up. I bought it from a guy I found on dirtroad.com for $1,500. It has an AMC 304, t15 trany, d20 transfer case.

The Fun Begins

We started to tear the jeep down and ran into a few problems. All of the body mounts were rusted on so we used the cutting torch to get rid of them. The previous owner decided it would be funny to bolt the seats in place using a different size bolt for each seat bolt location..sending me to the garage for a new socket and wrench every few minutes. That diamond plate on the back was a bitch to remove also.

Our First Snag

This is the "new frame" and it saved me a ton of $$. Once we got it down to a frame we noticed severe frame damage on the front passenger side where the leaf spring mounts up front. It is kind of hard to see in the pictures below but I put them up anyway. Notice how thick the bottom of the c shape of the frame is on the left compared to the pick on the right. That is where the frame had rusted through and a 1 inch thick plate was welded there  with the spring hanger welded to it. It is far enough off to make a noticeable differance in the vehicle sitting level. The original owner saved my ass here, He had another frame in great condition in his yard that he let me have free! Thanks again Kirk!!!!!
This is it for now I actually have the new frame in the garage just about ready to rust proof with por15 and prime/paint corvette yellow. I will be posting pics as I get them and will break this page up into stages soon. Just needed to bang out a quick page today for Kirk (the original owner) to check out.
